I have been to Brazil seven times.The last three visits in 2005, 2006, and 2008, I have stayed in Christian's lovely apartment in Copacabana. If you are the independent type of traveler, you will completely enjoy Christian's apartment. It is tastefully and beautifully decorated. Everything is new and works to perfection. He has everything one would need to be at home: tasteful dishes, coffee cups and wine glasses, as well as everything needed to cook a great meal. The apartment is within walking distance of many things: 24 hour supermarkets, drugstores, internet cafes and the Metro which is just around the corner. In three visits, I have never heard any noise from any of the neighbors. The walls are thick which make the apartment quiet. I think it was probably built in the 1940's.There is a view of the "Christo Redentor" from the living room window". The apartment, about three blocks back from the beach, is actually a better location than being right on the beach. It is a real neighborhood, not the tourist area of Avenida Copacabana. Rio is a geographically stunning city. Nowhere does the jungle, ocean, and mountains come together to create such a visual effect.You will have a marvelous time made all the better by staying in this great apartment. Location was excellent and safe in the middle of everything. Apartment itself was really clean and well equipped. You can do your laundry there as well as prepare food if you want to. It is very well equip and is stylishly decorated (my girlfriend wanted to know if you yourself did the decorating?). Mr Luciano was very friendly, and though we struggled to understand each other, he always tried his best to be helpful. We went to Buzios for a weekend. It is different to Rio since it is much quieter. Perfect for a short break. Our accommodation in Buzios was however not up to the standard we had gotten used to in Copacabana. I did manage to see the game between Palmeiras and Fluminense at Maracana. Though the football match itself was a bit disappointing (the rest of the crowd agreed), the experience of being at this great stadium was wonderful (especially for an ardent football fan). I loved Rio for the combination of city life, beach life and all the cultural and natural beauty. I will be recommending the city (and your apartment) to all my friends. August 2004 Sorry we have not been in touch earlier. I have just yesterday got back to UK and Teresa is in Brasil for a further 2 weeks. We very much enjoyed our stay in Brasil and especially found your apartment very nicely presented, very clean and tidy and we liked the design which is exactly how we would do it ourselves. Snr Luciano was also most helpful and we gave him a decent tip when we left. As it happened we only stayed there for 4 nights although we paid for 5 nights, because we could not chnage our flights to Brasilia wihout incurring a susbtantial extra cost, but we thought it preferable not to try and renegogiate with you! Especially since you made the kind offer for us to leave our suitcases there while we were away in Ilha Grande.The only disappointing thing was that the weather was poor and old, and we had cloud and rain and had to buy some warm clothes, and no time at all could be spent on the beach.
